2000年以上前から東洋の書画に用いられてきた墨。脈々とつづくその歴史に裏付けられた墨作品の必然性は今もなお健在です。多種多様な使用素材や表現手段が混在する現代の美術において、墨から発する制作を敢えて「墨イズム」と呼び、本展では 6 作家の作品を展示いたします。 

 
Sumi, or Japanese ink, has been used for Oriental calligraphic works and paintings for over 2,000 years. The need for works in sumi, an art form backed by a long unbroken history, remains strong. In contemporary art, which is filled with an indiscriminate mix of materials and representation techniques, we specifically refer to production based on sumi as “sumi_ism,” and the artworks of 6 sumi-artists will be exhibited in this exhibition.
